More About Me
Clay Owens has come full circle. As a child, his family would drive down from the Atlanta area to vacation on Florida’s Emerald Coast. As an adult, those visits became less frequent as work took him across the Southeast, eventually landing in the Houston area. But five years ago, Clay had the opportunity to return to his childhood vacation spot. Only now, he calls it home. “There’s no place I’d rather live than right here,” Clay shares. “Where else can you find sand this white, water this clear, and people this friendly?” Clay and his wife Laura have six (yes, six!) daughters, and they love all that the Emerald Coast has to offer. “We can bike, snorkel, head to Shell Island or Cape San Blas, visit a waterpark, play mini-golf, or just have a relaxing day at the beach. We can literally visit a different restaurant every day if we want—there are tons of options, whether it’s the whole family or a night out for Laura and me. And we get to see a stunning sunset nearly every night from our living room windows. Seriously, what’s not to love?” When Clay and his family aren’t busy soaking up the local ambiance, they’re still busy. Clay and Laura are active supporters of their daughters’ school events and other interests, which means there’s always something going on. They’re also a musical family, and you might find them singing anywhere from a community concert to a church choir to an impromptu performance in their backyard. The family is also passionate about helping children in need; they are a foster and adoptive family, and both Laura and Clay are involved in local as well as nationwide efforts to help children and families. In an ongoing commitment, Clay supports these efforts with a portion of every closed sale. Clay’s earliest real estate experience was through the mortgage industry, and he still likes to stay current on the latest loan products and lending trends. He also has experience in construction, design, and local codes and zoning. If there’s been one constant through the years, it’s his focus on the needs of those he serves. “As a teenager, I worked in my family’s restaurants. That’s where I learned to always give your customers the best service possible, and for me that’s paramount. At the end of the day, there’s nothing like knowing your work has led to the close of a successful transaction for your customer. And it’s even better getting to do that right here on the world’s most beautiful beaches.”
